Pristine and Pure Fish Oil

What is purity?

Fish oil purity is assessed by measuring the levels of heavy metals, PCBs and dioxins.

At the moment there are several standards for fish oil purity that are used internationally. The most important of these are included in the below table. You will note that we at Xtend-Life have set our own specifications which are more stringent than the most widely accepted international standards.

Pure facts

• Our specification for mercury is set at 50ppb (parts per billion).
• In contrast, the various international organizations set their acceptable levels at 100ppb – much higher than us!

Natural fish oil purity - the Xtend-Life way

We are often asked how have we been able to achieve higher purity levels than other fish oils? This is how:

1. Xtend-Life Omega 3/DHA Fish Oil products all contain natural New Zealand hoki oil from fish located in a pristine area of the Southern Ocean off the coast of New Zealand where there is very little exposure to contaminants, including heavy metals. Unlike the North Sea which is becoming increasingly polluted, the area where the hoki are located is not near any shipping lines. These fish and their oil contain substantially less contaminants than fish caught elsewhere around the world.
2. Xtend-Life Omega 3/DHA Fish Oil products also contain exceptionally pure concentrated tuna oil. The tuna oil is molecularly distilled and concentrated and it also undergoes an additional special purification process that enables a higher level of purity that cannot be achieved through molecular distillation alone.
